Atlanta 2012

From one man’s courage and vision, Canadian-born Jean Vanier, has sprung up a world-wide social movement, bringing men and women with a disability into the heart of their societies, making their voice heard, providing a true home and the opportunity to develop and share their unique gifts to the fullest.
Twice every decade, delegates from across the Federation come together to share, listen and debate in order to guide the global L’Arche movement towards the future. Following gatherings in Assisi, Italy and Kolkata, India, the next International Assembly will be held in Atlanta, USA from June 1st to June 10th, 2012.

Dear families:  Thank you for your interest in hosting members of the L’Arche movement during the weekend of June 1-3, 2012!  What a great opportunity to build relationships with men and women from around the world, of different backgrounds, languages and abilities.  Are you excited to show off your neighborhood, congregation, the city of Decatur or the Atlanta area?  L’Arche folks from around the world are looking forward to discovering food, weather, habits, traditions, people and places.  You will find more information about the weekend on this website.  We, the planning team, are eager to meet you at one of our info-sessions in April.  Register on this website or contact us!  Thanks again!
L'Arche is about connections, care and interrelatedness. It is about solidarity, spirituality and mutuality. The 2012 International General Assembly is an opportunity to introduce you to men and women with an intellectual disability and to the mission and vision of L’Arche. There are several ways to contribute to the success of the event, may you be in Atlanta or elsewhere in the world.
